Tillsonburg water and wastewater projects

Oxford County and the Town of Tillsonburg work together under a shared service contract agreement to ensure the long-term safety, reliability, and sustainability of water and wastewater services in the community.

Who does what?

• The Town of Tillsonburg manages day-to-day operations and maintenance of part of the County’s water distribution system, including watermains, valves, fire hydrants and water meters, as well as part of the County’s wastewater collection system, which include gravity sewers and manholes.
• Oxford County operates all water supply wells, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and parts of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems (transmission watermains, wastewater forcemains, pumping stations and water reservoirs).
• As the water and wastewater infrastructure owner, Oxford County has oversight and responsibility for the supply, treatment, storage and distribution of water, as well as the collection and treatment of wastewater sewage.
• Oxford County carries out long-term system planning for water and wastewater to meet the needs of current and future populations through the Water and Wastewater Master Plan and the Asset Management Plan.
  
• Both municipalities work together to coordinate engineering and road improvements to that road repairs and construction are carried out at the same time as water and wastewater infrastructure whenever possible.
