Feeling always so welcome

My library in Burgessville has amazing staff.

They remember you, although there are many people coming in and out. If a have a book on hold, they told me with a big smile right away as I enter: we have a book for you! It’s the personal approach I appreciate so very much in this busy world. You feel so welcome!

The staff is always attentive and willing to help. If a book is not available in Oxford County they look up if it’s available somewhere else.

I am very happy with my library membership.

In the old library in the 50's , the children's section was downstairs . The semi adult and adult was upstairs. Librarian Betty Crawford, was always there. There was an adult painting class by Harry Whitwell, and a children's class in painting by Jessie Robins. Betty Crawford went to the Doon School of Art and was herself an artist. Many of her local paintings have found a home in our home, as well as some of Harry's.Now this building is still being preserved thanks to Carneigie Hall inovation. Ever onward to more spacious and modern facilities. Recently, some 75 years later, I am using the expertise of the local library in doing research for preserved historical documents of local importance. Also, having recently read a biography of James Herriot, I wanted to reread some of those 70's stories. Our Ingersoll library retrieved two books from storage for my use and my reading pleasure was fulfilled.
