June 12, 2024

No matter where you live in Oxford County, the 2025 Budget survey is your chance to have a say on which services should be a priority in the coming budget year.

Information collected from the budget survey will help provide a better understanding of how well municipal services are understood, how they are valued, and which ones are a priority for residents. The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

Each municipality receives its own survey results to inform its budget planning process.

The 2025 Budget survey closes on August 30, 2024.

Please select the area municipality you live in; or, if you do not live in Oxford County, please select the municipality to which you are most closely connected (for instance, where you own a business).

Feedback from the community helps municipalities understand what's important to residents now as well as what is needed for the future as communities grow. In addition to the survey, you can give feedback by:

  • using the comment card below to send in your comments or questions; or,
  • directly contacting the staff representative for your local municipality from the list on the right.

A note about municipal taxes

If you own a residential property in Oxford County, you pay municipal property taxes. The amount collected is based on the value of your property as assessed by MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation). Your municipal taxes are made up of three parts:

  • the amount paid to your local area municipality
  • the amount paid to Oxford County
  • the amount paid to your designated local school board as set by the Government of Ontario

This survey focuses on services funded through your municipal taxes (i.e., it does not include federal, provincial or education taxes).

    Your municipal property tax bill

When you pay your municipal property tax bill, the funds are distributed to three agencies. Each of these agencies are responsible for delivering a distinct set of programs and services.

    • Local Area Municipality
    • Oxford County
    • Education (School boards)*

Not included in your property tax bill are user fees and charges. These are special fees set by by-laws collected from residents that consume a particular service. Examples of these fees include bag tags, recreation, transit, water and wastewater to name a few.

Each municipality has its own set of fees approved by its council. These revenues are used to offset specific costs (partially or completely) to receive a direct or personal benefit.

Note: The Government of Ontario sets the education tax rates that are necessary to cover the cost of publicly funded education. In Oxford County, revenue collected is paid to one of the four local school boards as directed by the homeowner.
