Proposed road safety improvements in South-West Oxford

Oxford County is proposing changes to improve road safety in the Township of South-West Oxford in:

  • Foldens (Oxford Road 6 and Oxford Road 12)
  • Sweaburg (Oxford Road 12)
  • Culloden (Oxford Road 10)
  • Verschoyle (Oxford Road 10)
  • Dereham Centre (Oxford Road 27)


Foldens (Oxford Road 6 and Oxford Road 12)

Proposed road safety improvements | See map

  • Install electronic speed feedback signs on all County road approaches in to Foldens: north end of Oxford Road 6 (Foldens Line) and at the west and east ends of Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road)
  • Adjust the 60 km/h zone limits at the north end of Oxford Road 6 (Foldens Line) and the east end of Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) to align with the village limits and limits of the built up area
  • Extend current street lighting on Oxford Road 6 (Foldens Line) further north to align with the 60 km/h zone limit and add street lighting to Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) within the 60 km/h zone limits
  • Relocate community boundary signs on the north end of Oxford Road 6 (Foldens Line) and the west and east ends of Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) to better align with village limits


Sweaburg (Oxford Road 12)

  • Install electronic speed feedback signs on all County road approaches into Sweaburg: west and east ends of Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road)
  • Adjust the 60 km/h zone limit at the west end of Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) to align with the village limits
  • Implement a 70 km/h speed zone on Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) from the 60 km/h zone at the west limit of Sweaburg to a point west of Trillium Line intersection
  • Extend current street lighting on Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) further west and east to align with the 60 km/h zone limit
  • Relocate community boundary signs on the west and east ends of Oxford Road 12 (Sweaburg Road) to better align with the 60km/h zone limits


Culloden (Oxford Road 10)

  • Install electronic speed feedback signs on all County road approaches in to Culloden: north and south ends of Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line)
  • Adjust the 60 km/h zone limits at the north and south ends of Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) to align with the village limits and limits of the built up area
  • Extend current street lighting on Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) further north and south to align with the 60 km/h zone limit
  • Relocate community boundary signs on the north and south ends of Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) to better align with the 60km/h zone limits


Verschoyle (Oxford Road 10)

  • Install flexible centre line delineators on Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) at the north and south approaches to Verschoyle, as well as near the midway point of the village
  • Adjust the 60 km/h zone limits at the north and south ends of Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) to align with the village limits and limits of the built up area


Dereham Centre (Oxford Road 27)

  • Install electronic speed feedback signs on all County road approaches in to Dereham Centre: west and east ends of Oxford Road 27 (Prouse Road)
  • Adjust the 60 km/h zone limits at the west and east ends of Oxford Road 27 (Prouse Road) to align with the village limits
  • Add street lighting to Oxford Road 27 (Prouse Road) within the 60 km/h zone limits
  • Relocate community boundary signs on the west and east ends of Oxford Road 27 (Prouse Road) to better align with the village limits


Presentation to Oxford County Council

The proposed road safety changes are before Oxford County Council next month for review and consideration. Members of the community are invited to learn more and/or to present comments at Oxford County Council as a delegate:
