2023 Road safety improvements

  • Electronic speed feedback signs will be installed at all four approaches into Drumbo: east and west ends of Oxford Road 29 (Oxford Street) and at the north and south ends of Oxford Road 3 (Wilmot Street).
  • The 60 km/h speed transition zones at all four approaches will be eliminated, as research has found these to be ineffective in reducing traffic speeds.
  • The 50 km/h zone limit at the north end on Oxford Road 3 (Wilmot Street) will be adjusted to align the village limits and limits of built up area.
  • The 40 km/h zone on Oxford Road 3 (Wilmot Street) in the vicinity of the school will be modified with amber flashing lights. These will only be in effect when the lights are flashing, which is during times when students are arriving and leaving school.
  • A controlled pedestrian crossing with rapid flashing beacons will be installed at the school crossing on Oxford Road 3 (Wilmot Street).
  • Street lighting will be extended at east and west ends of Oxford Road 29 (Oxford Road St) and south end on Oxford Road 3 (Wilmot Street).
  • Community Safety Zones will be implemented on Oxford Road 3 (Wilmot Street) in the vicinity of the school and on Oxford Road 29 (Oxford Street), where previous studies identified high pedestrian usage.
