Oxford County is implementing changes to improve road safety in the Township of South-West Oxford and the Township of Norwich in Culloden, Curries, Dereham Centre, Foldens, Springford, Sweaburg and Verschoyle. Read the community update | Accessible version
Culloden (Oxford Road 10)
Watch for new electronic feedback signs and more streetlighting on Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) in Culloden. The posted speed limit of 60 km/h through Culloden will be extended to better align with the built-up limits of the hamlet. The community boundary sign will be relocated to align with the hamlet limits and improve the overall visibility of the sign.
Curries (Oxford Road 40)
The speed limit on Oxford Road 40 near Oxford Road 59 will be reduced to 70 km/h. Motorists will notice newly installed electronic feedback signs for incoming traffic when the 70 km/h zone begins.
Dereham Centre (Oxford Road 27)
The 60 km/h speed limit will remain in place and transition points will be extended at both the east and west ends. Watch for a new electronic feedback sign when approaching the hamlet.
The community boundary sign will be relocated to align with the hamlet limits and improve the overall visibility of the sign. Additional street lighting will be added to better illuminate the built-up limits of the hamlet.
Foldens (Oxford Road 6 and Oxford Road 12)
New electronic feedback signs will be installed at all three approaches to Foldens Line, Oxford Road 6, and Oxford Road 12. The 60 km/h speed transition zones will extend on the north side of Foldens at Oxford Road 6 and west on Oxford Road 12 at the east side of Foldens. Additional street lighting will be added to help illuminate the built-up limits of the reduced speed zone.
Springford (Oxford Road 13 and Oxford Road 19)
The 50km/h speed limit will remain in place and will be extended at the west end to align with the built up area. New electronic feedback signs will be installed at the north, south, east, and west speed transition points on Oxford Roads 13 and 19. The community boundary sign will be relocated to better align with the village limits. Also, the 50 km/h stretch of Oxford Road 19 will become a Community Safety Zone.
Sweaburg (Oxford Road 12)
The speed limit on Oxford Road 12 from 150m west of Trillium Line to just west of Chele Mark Drive will be lowered to 70 km/h. The boundary signs will be moved to better align with the adjusted speed limits when entering the village. Also, watch for new electronic feedback signs and more lighting at the east and west approaches as the speed limit changes to 60 km/h.
Verschoyle (Oxford Road 10)
Additional flexible delineators will be installed on Oxford Road 10 (Culloden Line) in Verschoyle. The posted speed limit of 60 km/h through Verschoyle will be extended to better align with the built-up limits of the hamlet.
