Help make Oxford a more inclusive community!
The Safe & Well Oxford Steering Committee is looking for people to join the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Action Coalition committee.
The Coalition is looking for five to six new members who have personal interests and experiences with diversity, equity and inclusion. You will be joining a committee that includes representatives from community partners and agencies. The application deadline is Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
What is Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?
Diversity, equity and inclusion describes the goal of ensuring all people are represented and able to participate in society, with a focus on all protected grounds under the Human Rights Code: citizenship, race, place of origin, ethnic origin, colour, ancestry, disability, age, creed, sex/pregnancy, family status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, receipt of public assistance (in housing) and record of offences (in employment).
What is the DEI Action Coalition?
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Action Coalition will carry out the equity, diversity and inclusion goals of the Safe & Well Oxford Plan, which is Oxford County's community safety and well-being plan.
The plan describes the Action Coalition as bringing together Oxford's area municipalities (Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Ingersoll, Norwich, South-West Oxford, Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Zorra), Oxford County, police services, health care organizations and providers, school boards, businesses, social service providers, and agencies to ensure our communities are welcoming and inclusive for all, and that “no one is left behind.” Learn more
As a member, you will:

Meetings are expected to be held monthly through a mix of in person and videoconferencing formats.
